Surgery Recap
Hi everyone. I made it through my surgery, here's how it went in case you're interested:
Chris' mom took me to the hospital at 8:30. Registered, they took my insurance information, and gave me a bracelet. Then I was ushered into another room where I had to change into a hospital gown and slipper socks.
They set me up in a little room which was so damn cold, took my blood pressure and oxygen rate, and attempted to give me an IV. The nurse tried, but my veins are so small. Then I met with my dr. and the anestesiologist had to give me a baby IV.
Then I was brought into the OR on a stretcher, put onto the table, given drugs in my IV, and then I passed out. Some time later I was brought back into the little room. I was extremely uncomfortable, cold, and had gauze in my mouth. My dr. then took out my gauze. Waited 20 minutes, then I was given jello and apple juice. About a half hour later Chris' mom picked me up.
She took me to her house and I slept on and off on the couch until Chris got out of work. He took me home and made my ice packs, gave me pudding and yogurt. Kristen also brought me WaWa iced tea (my favorite).
I'm not too swollen. In a little pain, it feels like my jaw is wired. I'm taking ibuprofen, no Percocet yet, I'm a little hesitant. I have to keep applying ice packs, wash out my mouth with salt water, and put vaseline on my lips (I guess cuz they're dry from the surgery). I've just been taking a lot of naps.
I have the best family and friends. Chris and his mom took excellent care of me and my friends have been sending lots of get well wishes via text and internet. Thank you all :)
